Account and listing data

We store the account details you provide, saved places, reviews and business listing information to operate these features. Published listings and reviews are visible to other visitors.

Account access

Passwords are stored as password hashes. Sign-in tokens are stored in your browser. Do not share your sign-in details, and sign out on shared devices.

Service providers

Hosting, database, email, image and mapping providers process information needed to operate the service. Opening a map, image or business contact link may send a request to that provider.

Aggregate traffic measurement

When enabled, we count page views, searches, listing views, saves and contact clicks by category, referral source and approximate country/city. Our analytics database does not store raw IP addresses, account IDs, emails, full URLs or exact locations. These counts represent activity, not confirmed bookings or unique people. Hosting providers may retain operational request logs separately.

Your exploration area

We use a country hint supplied by our hosting provider to select a shared public country homepage. You can also choose to explore its approximate city hint. You can change it to any destination. Your chosen area is stored in your browser, separated by account; use “Use country homepage” on the homepage to clear it. Device location is requested only when you choose that option. Search coordinates are sent to our backend and may be used to find places through our mapping providers.

Contact us through the contact page for questions about your information or to request a correction or deletion.

Plain-language note: data stored on your device

Some features keep information only in your browser: sign-in tokens, your stated preferences, private shortlist notes, visit checklists, compare selections and recently viewed listings. Notes and preferences are separated by account on the same device and can be cleared from your profile. Signing out removes sign-in tokens and any unfinished listing draft.

Listing photos you upload are stored with our image hosting provider. Maps use OpenStreetMap. Place records may come from the credited open-data sources or Google Maps. Location suggestions use our catalogue, curated cities/campuses and Google Maps.
